Flag lowering ceremony at the standing stones on Thursday afternoon
A flag lowering ceremony to mark Brittany’s National Day will be held on Thursday May 19 at the standing stones from 4.30 pm.
Brittany is one of the Celtic places acknowledged by the Australian Standing Stones.
The Australian Standing Stones Management Board and the Caledonian Society will host this event with Glen Innes’ own Fest Noz (evening dance).
Australian Standing Stones Management Board Chair Judi Toms said the afternoon will allow locals to learn more about Glen Innes’ array of Standing Stones.
“At 4.30 p.m. there will be a short guided tour of the Stones and the flag lowering ceremony is at 5 pm accompanied by the Breton National Anthem ‘Bro Gozh ma Zadoù’ and an informative short talk on St Yves – the Patron Saint of Brittany,’ she said.
“The we invite you to stay to enjoy the Caledonian Society’s Breton ‘Fest-Noz’ – where you will be able to sample traditional Breton food and drink with the opportunity to learn a simple dance ‘Hanter Dro’ and hear about some of the exploits of King Arthur himself. “
